AWAY GAME: Solent Amazons 2 @ Slough Sirens 4 – 03-01-26

Solent Amazons Travelled to Slough for a Tight Encounter Against the Sirens

The Solent Amazons faced off against Slough Sirens in a fast-paced weekend clash that saw plenty of shots on goal and some outstanding goaltending on both sides.

Slough drew first blood when Kat Lossnitzer fired a low shot past the Amazons’ netminder. The Amazons responded on the powerplay, with Lou Beresford sending a perfect pass from the point to Leah Trueman, who threaded a beautiful pass through the crease for Sarah Poulter to fire home, tying the game.

The second period remained tight, but Slough edged ahead again near the end. Jess Banner suffered a nasty stick to the ribs and was forced out for the remainder of the game.

Slough began the third with a quick powerplay goal, but the Amazons answered swiftly through Lucy Gates, finishing a neat feed from Lou Beresford. The score held at 3-2 until the dying moments, when the Amazons pressed forward, only for Kat Lossnitzer to complete the game with a breakaway goal for Slough.

Despite the 4-2 defeat, the Amazons showcased skill, resilience, and teamwork throughout, with Leah Trueman earning Player of the Game and Sarah Poulter voted Players’ Player.

A huge thank you to ice hockey legend Chrissy Newman for stepping in at the last minute to coach the Amazons for this game. Her impact was immediately felt. The squad maintained excellent structure throughout, executed the powerplay effectively, and applied smart defensive systems against the players in front of us. It was fantastic to see our players benefit from her experience, passion and expertise on and off the ice. Greatly appreciated.
