Be loud. Be proud. Be there.

Help Us Support Beat SCAD – Together Stronger! ๐Ÿ’โค๏ธ

On 25th January, the Solent Amazons take to the ice against the Slough Sirens, not just for the love of hockey, but to make a real difference for people affected by Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD).

ย

SCAD can strike without warning and affects people who might otherwise seem healthy, making research, support and awareness absolutely crucial. Your donation will help Beat SCAD continue to support individuals and families navigating life after SCAD, provide resources and community, and fund research that could save lives.

Why this cause is so close to our hearts at Solent Amazons:

ย

Last season, our Solent Amazons family was shaken when Katie Banner, the mum of one of our own, Jessie, suffered a sudden and life-threatening heart attack completely out of the blue. She was diagnosed with SCAD and in an instant, life changed for their whole family. There was fear, uncertainty, and a long period where no one knew what the outcome would be.

ย

Through it all, Katie showed extraordinary strength. She faced something terrifying with courage and continues to live with SCAD every day, carrying the knowledge that it is something that could happen again. Yet she still shows up, smiling in the stands, cheering Jessie on, being her biggest supporter, and there for strength and love when Jessie needs her.

ย

At a time when most her age are focused on exams, parties, and planning their futures, Jessie stepped up to hold her family together. She took on more responsibilities and caring for her mum while she was recovering. She balanced the emotional weight of everything with earning her place at university, and continuing to grow into the incredible ice hockey player we are so proud to call an Amazon.

ย

This is why Beat SCAD means so much to us. Because SCAD isnโ€™t rare statistics or medical terms. Itโ€™s a mother, a daughter, a family, and a community who stood together when it mattered most.

ย

We skate, we fight, and we raise funds for Katie, for Jessie and for everyone living with SCAD.
