29th November 2025 – Women’s National Ice Hockey League
The Solent Amazons travelled to Slough on Saturday afternoon for what proved to be a spirited and hard-fought matchup, with both teams coming out fast and determined from the very first puck drop.
Slough opened the scoring early in the first period, as Katerina Lossnitzer found space and fired home a tidy snipe to make it 1–0. The Amazons responded with some fantastic pressure of their own, including a strong chance from Josie Clark Payet, who tested the Sirens’ defence and kept their goalie honest.
Tempers flared midway through the period after a heated moment and hit from behind on Josie following the whistle, but the Amazons stayed composed and focused, continuing to battle for every puck and maintain their structure.
Solent thought they had the equaliser when Lauren Kenton tucked the puck into the net, but the officials waved the goal off, unsure if it had crossed the goal line. Despite the setback, the Amazons kept pushing and generating chances.
The score remained 1–0 right up until the final second of the second period, when Slough managed to capitalise on a powerplay opportunity, sneaking in a buzzer-beater to double their lead.
Slough extended their advantage early in the third, but the Amazons refused to back down. Even after losing Josie to a game penalty, the team rallied together and continued to work hard at both ends of the ice. Their persistence paid off in the final minute of the game, as Miranda Brown buried a well-earned goal, set up beautifully by Louise Beresford and Lauren Denness, rewarding the team’s relentless effort.
Despite the final scoreline of 4-1, the Amazons showed huge determination, character, and discipline throughout the night. It was a gritty performance on the road, and the team continues to grow stronger each week.
