Game Report: Solent Amazons vs Haringey Greyhounds
Final Score: 5–5

What a night of hockey at Ally Pally! In front of a big and lively crowd, the Solent Amazons and Haringey Greyhounds battled it out in a thrilling Women’s National Ice Hockey League matchup that went right down to the final minute.

A huge thank you to Haringey for putting on such a professional production for the fans,  the atmosphere was electric and a brilliant showcase of how fast the Women’s game is growing in popularity.

After Haringey’s dominant performance last weekend against Slough, we knew this would be a tough contest. The Amazons also had reason to celebrate, as we welcomed back Abby Hartley and Sarah Poulter to the ice after long breaks. Both had fantastic comeback games and were brilliant additions to the squad.

Game Summary

Haringey opened the scoring just one minute in through Josie Milton, but the Amazons hit back quickly. Abby Hartley rifled a shot off the crossbar that rebounded in to level things at 1–1. Momentum then swung Solent’s way as Lou Beresford scored twice in under a minute, assisted by Kelly, putting the Amazons 3–1 up.

Haringey responded early in the second period when Jenna Johnson finished five-hole from a pass by Milton to make it 3–2. Despite penalty trouble for Solent, the Amazons held strong on the kill. The breakthrough came when Jess Banner found space down the wing for Solent’s fourth of the night.

Just before the intermission, a turnover gave Haringey’s Annie McMahon the chance to score, assisted by Teagan Walsh, pulling the Greyhounds back to 4–3 heading into the third.

Backed by their home crowd, Haringey came out flying in the final frame. Noam D’Allio converted a breakaway to tie the game, before Jadie Jones struck from Emma Stigter and Yami Manchanda-Corless to give Haringey the lead.

With under a minute left on the clock and down by one, the Amazons dug deep and found a scrappy goal in close to force a 5–5 tie, sealing a dramatic finish to a brilliant game.
