Game Report: Solent Amazons vs Oxford Midnight Stars
Oxford, Final Score: 2–4 (Oxford win)

The Solent Amazons travelled to Oxford with a short bench of just 10 skaters, but spirits were high as the squad welcomed four new players to the lineup. Josie Clark Payet, Molly Walsh, Lara Cannon and Emma Hutton.

Despite being a fresh group, the Amazons quickly found chemistry, showing strong puck movement, crisp passing, and excellent teamwork throughout the game.

The Amazons dominated offensively, outshooting Oxford 54–20, but the story of the night was Oxford’s hot goaltender, who turned aside chance after chance to secure the win for the home side.

Oxford struck first when Jodie West Attrill broke away and fired a snap shot off the post and in. Solent answered quickly on the power play, when Sarah Taylor found the back of the net after a slick passing play from Lou Beresford and Josie Clark Payet, tying the game 1–1.

The deadlock held until the third period when the Amazons struck again on the power play. This time Lou Beresford scored, assisted by Jess Banner, giving Solent a 2–1 lead.

Momentum quickly swung, however, as Oxford replied just over a minute later through Harriett Jones. Two more goals from Sofia Fajit in quick succession turned the scoreline to 4–2 in Oxford’s favour with 13 minutes to play. Despite relentless pressure and plenty of shots, the Amazons couldn’t beat the Oxford netminder again.

The Amazons may not have taken the win, but their performance was full of positives. They controlled puck possession, outshot their opponents heavily, and showed clear signs of a strong and determined squad for the season ahead.

Next up, the Amazons hit the road to Ally Pally next weekend to face the Haringey Greyhounds. Supporters are encouraged to come along and cheer them on!
