July Is Disability Pride Month

At Solent Women’s Ice Hockey Club, we’re proud to celebrate diversity on and off the ice.

Disability Pride Month is about recognising and honouring people, while challenging stereotypes and breaking down barriers. It’s important to remember that disability isn’t always visible, it can be physical, sensory, cognitive, mental health-related, neurodivergent, or chronic.

Ice Hockey is more than just a sport, for many, it’s also therapeutic, providing a powerful sensory outlet, physical/mental release, and community connection. That’s why creating an inclusive space matters.

At Solent we believe hockey is for everyone, and we’re committed to building a supportive, welcoming home where players can show up as their full selves, with confidence and pride. You belong here.

This month, and every month, we stand with all our teammates, supporters, and community members living with visible, invisible or non-apparent disabilities or diversities.

Special Mention: We’re incredibly proud to have Lou Beresford, former coach of the GB Paralympic Para Ice Hockey Team, join our club family this past year.
